For five sun-soaked days—July 30 to August 3, 2025—Keszthely (Keszthely) transforms its lakeside Wine Street (Borutca) into a true wine paradise for the 33rd Zala Wine Showcase Festival (Zalai Borcégér Festival). Local and regional winemakers fill the street with the boldest and best that Zala has to offer. While Hungarian wisdom says “good wine needs no sign,” the organizers have been proving for years that a good party is the best advertisement. The festival keeps growing, making Zala and Hungarian wines more popular every year.
Unforgettable Flavors
This isn’t just about wine. The festival’s gastronomic lineup is a sensory feast: handcrafted cheeses, melt-in-your-mouth BBQ, crisp roasted meats, savory flatbreads, flaky strudels, and—naturally—a little chimney cake (kürtős) and fried bread (lángos) to keep you going through an evening of wine tasting.
Wine by Day, Party by Night
Each day brings a packed program. Late afternoons are for families, with magic-themed playgrounds and kid-friendly shows. As evening falls, live bands and DJs take over, including acts like DJ Tamás Németh (DJ Németh Tamás), the Jazzformers, Groovehouse, and an energetic Cuban Dance Show. Friday and Saturday nights last until the street becomes one giant dance floor, with bands such as Helios and Fantasy leading the party. Program highlights include the ceremonial wine parade, traditional Hungarian folk dance, a Dire Straits tribute band, and even a touch of operetta with Attila Hertelendy (Hertelendy Attila).
Crafts and Traditions
The fun isn’t limited to wine and music. The entrance to Wine Street (Borutca) is lined with a colorful crafts market, showcasing everything from local ceramics to artistic jewelry, all handmade by passionate creators from the region.
Of course, if the weather takes a turn—rain or stormy winds—some events may get canceled, but spirits rarely stay down for long in Keszthely (Keszthely).
