Late April Highlights
April 23–25 centers on Balf, Ágfalva, Fertőd, Fertőhomok, Sarród, and Harka. Ride the panoramic cycling route along the Csárdakapui Main Canal in Balf on April 23 and 25. Catch the St. George’s Day concert in Ágfalva on April 24. On April 25, Fertőd goes all in on Sustainable Fashion Day: family guided tours, a macramé workshop, a talk by Eszter Mengyán, plus a deep-dive lecture on 18th-century upcycling and inheritance in dress. Also on the 25th: the St. George’s Day Open House at the Fertőhomok folk museum, springtime family fun at Lászlómajor in Sarród, and a charity spritzer party at Harkai Fröccsterasz in Harka. April 26 in Fertőd adds a European Day of Historic Gardens walk through floral interiors and fountains and free guided tours titled Entry into the Past: Homes and Gardens. Birders: bustard-watching in Sarród is on April 29.
May on the Water and Village Greens
Celebrate Maypole raising and May Day in Hegykő at 76 Kossuth Lajos Street, plus a classic May Day at the Fertőrákos Quarry. Sopronkövesd hosts a sunrise hike and family day, while Fertőszentmiklós stages its 11th City Running Day, all on May 1. Lake Neusiedl (Fertő) comes alive with electric-boat trips from Fertőrákos and reed-bed canoe tours from Balf throughout May (7, 14, 16, 21, 28, 30). The recurring Hany Safari returns on May 8, 15, 22, 29. On May 10, run the scenic Panorámafutás from Fertőrákos (1 Fő Street). Wine lovers should mark St. Urban’s Day Wine Selection in Hegykő (74 Kossuth Lajos Street) on May 21. On May 16, join Legendary Fertő Landscape X — From Rákos to Sopron, starting at the Fertőrákos Quarry bus stop. May 30 caps with the cultural-by-bike ride Chapels Route in the Alpokalja from Sopronkövesd, plus more e-boat cruising.
Summer Starts Strong
June keeps the momentum: e-boat tours June 4, 9, 11, 18, 20, 25; Hany Safari on June 5, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, and July 1; Children’s Day in Hegykő on June 7; canoeing from Balf June 16, 18, 23, 25. Hegykő’s 1 Drop Festival runs June 12–14. On June 21, Fertőrákos hosts Valahol Amerika — Bon-Bon 30 musical, followed by the Roby Lakatos Gypsy Jazz Project concert on June 27.
