Zalakaros keeps the ice magic alive through February 15, 2026. Lights up, ice gleams, and the slip-and-giggle season kicks off. Whether you glide like a pro or still eye the ice warily, you’ll end up doing a lap. Hot drinks are on the way, the lights are warming up, and yes, you’re very much invited.
Big Rink, Bigger Vibes
The massive rink covers about 8,611 square feet, with a 115×75 foot skating surface. The Karos Korzó (Karos Promenade) piles on Advent fun, family programs, and large-scale concerts. Sparkly beanie, ugly Christmas sweater, or just-here-to-watch face—come as you are.

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with a big rink, penguin aids for kids, and day tickets so everyone can take breaks and keep skating at their own pace
+
Affordable pricing by U.S. standards (adult tickets under $7, kid/student/senior discounts, reasonable skate rental)
+
Lights, concerts, and Advent programs at Karos Korzó add more to do than just skating—good for mixed-interest groups
+
No Hungarian required for basic participation; prices are clear, hours are standard, and skating is universal
+
Easy to reach by car with straightforward small-town parking and less congestion than big-city rinks
+
Comparable or bigger ice surface than many seasonal pop-up rinks abroad, but at a fraction of the price
+
Renting the whole rink is surprisingly cheap for private events, great if you’re traveling with a group or family reunion
Cons
–
Zalakaros isn’t a globally famous destination, so U.S. tourists may have to research where it is and plan extra travel time
–
Public transport from major hubs (Budapest, international airports) can require multiple legs and schedules may be limited
–
Outside of staff and signage, English availability around town may be uneven, which can complicate non-ice needs like dining or lodging
–
If you’re expecting big-city Christmas markets and blockbuster shows, the entertainment scale is smaller than in Vienna, Prague, or NYC
