Zánka gears up for a lively 2026 with a month-by-month rollout of community favorites, new cultural highlights, and wellness sessions across multiple venues in the village on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. Locals and travelers can dip into free fitness classes, family meetups, exhibitions, forums, and a nationalities dance festival, all stitched into the rhythm of spring and early summer. Dates may change at short notice, so keep an eye on updates—and plan for stays, food, and drink options right in town.
Key Dates and Regulars
April sets the pace. On April 23, the free full-body and spinal therapeutic class gets people moving, paired with an open Zumba session—both recurring fixtures you’ll spot throughout the calendar. April 24 brings a residents’ forum featuring a talk by Dr. Kálmán Oláh. FolkFitness returns April 27 with its promise to dance your way to health, while Babusgató, a cozy infant-and-parent gathering, lands April 28—aimed squarely at new families looking for gentle social time. The mobility-plus-strength class and free Zumba repeat April 28 and again April 30.
On April 29, the Kormányablak Bus—Hungary’s mobile government office—parks in Zánka for on-the-spot administration and documents. April 30 doubles up: the Second Zánka Nationalities Dance Festival (II. Zánkai Nemzetiségi Táncfesztivál) celebrates cultural traditions with school-age performers and school groups; sign-ups closed March 30. The same day, the therapeutic and Zumba combo runs once more.

FolkFitness pops back May 4, while Babusgató and the free fitness-and-Zumba pairing return May 5 and May 7 to keep families and wellness fans in the loop. Rounding out the month: FolkFitness May 25, the free classes May 26 and 28, and another Babusgató on May 26.
Stay Close to the Lake
Zánka’s lodging options lean peaceful and family-friendly. A house with two apartments welcomes guests in a calm setting on the lake’s northern side. A vacation home for 4–10 guests sits 600 meters (1,969 feet) from the beach with a Balaton view, a big garden, outdoor furniture, barbecue, and secure parking. Fügekert, in central Zánka at the gateway to the Káli Basin, is a family stay that serves artisan breakfasts made with local producers’ goods, and hosts evenings on the terrace with the Káli Basin’s finest wines, craft syrups, and other treats.
There’s a quiet holiday house for families and friend groups, and a well-furnished, separate-entrance apartment with a Balaton panorama for 2–6 guests. A guesthouse with three apartments sleeps up to 10, together or separately. Léda Nyaralóház sits 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) from the lake in a tranquil area. Another spot just 250 meters (820 feet) from Lake Balaton offers four rooms for up to 12 guests; beneath the rooms, a cellar stores six types of house wine, with loungers under shady trees in the garden for sipping and unwinding. Rózner Apartments (Rózner Apartmanok), in central Zánka near the beach, houses two 4–5-person units with kitchens, dining spaces, and private bathrooms.
Eat, Sip, Repeat
A modern European bistro highlights vegetarian and vegan plates year-round and pays close attention to gluten- and dairy-sensitive guests. The drinks list focuses on cocktails crafted exclusively with Hungarian gin and a tight lineup of quality champagne. Don’t miss the crowd-favorite duck liver with salty strawberries and the giant túrógombóc (cottage cheese dumpling). You don’t have to be staying at Zen Garden Resort to book a table. At Fügekert, breakfasts star local artisanal produce, and evenings on the terrace pour the Káli Basin’s standout wines with craft syrups and snacks.
Lídia Wine House (Lídia Borház) serves estate-made wines in its cellar and vinotheque, available by the glass and for purchase in barrel or bottle, including via its web shop. Wines come from carefully harvested grapes, fermented with technical rigor, matured by blending traditional methods with modern processes, and increasingly bottled. Across Zánka and the Balaton Uplands, you’ll find lunches and dinners built from seasonal ingredients sourced from regional producers—paired with artisanal wines, homemade syrups, and more. Near Hegyestű, the Skanzen Panoráma Placc sits at the foot of Tagyon Hill with stone-baked pizzas, tortillas, and local wines in a relaxed, scenic setting.
