The Zsilip Center in Budapest is gearing up for a packed schedule of playful Jewish learning at the Zsiliputi Playhouse. Tucked away at 1137 Újpesti rakpart 1 in the 13th district, this two-story playhouse packed with learning rooms offers community events diving into Jewish traditions through games and fun. Families can bond over these interactive sessions starting March 2026, blending education with excitement for kids and adults alike. Whether it’s mini Shabbat welcomes or renewed Sunday schools, the vibe is all about joyful discovery.
Friday Evening Family Shabbats
Kick off the weekends with Péntekecske (Little Friday evenings) on Fridays such as March 20, March 27, and April 3, 2026. These mini Shabbat welcomes happen right in the Zsiliputi Playhouse. While grown-ups soak up teachings from Glitzi Rabbi (also known as Glici Rabbi) in the synagogue, kids have their own blast with a madricha leading playful sessions. They dive into the weekly Torah portion, Shabbat, and current holidays, all spiced up with pictures, games, and good times. Pay attention and earn gifts, plus there’s a tombola raffle for extra thrills. Whole families are invited to learn together Shabbat-style – it’s the perfect cozy start to the weekend in Budapest.
Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School Revival
Sundays bring back the magic with the Zsiliputi Jewish Sunday School (Zsiliputi Zsidó Vasárnapi Iskola) on March 22, March 29, and April 5, 2026. This refreshed Jewish Sunday school has kids raving for years about the epic memories from group games and sneaky learning. Hundreds of children who spent Sunday mornings here still share stories of the fun. Now reborn in the Zsilip Center’s playhouse and study rooms, a young, pumped-up team welcomes every kid and teen aged 4 to 14 from 10:00 to 12:30. Split by age groups, sessions cover prepping for holidays together, learning about mitzvot, exploring traditions, and instilling those lifelong values. Whether you’re a tiny tot, budding teen, pre-youth group kid, or gearing up for Bar or Bat Mitzvah, this Sunday school is tailor-made for you. Dive into Jewish life through play in Budapest.
More dates are coming – a total of 14 events lined up. Organizers reserve the right to tweak times and programs, so stay tuned for updates from the Zsilip crew at Újpesti rakpart 1.
