Szeretettel várják a műgyűjtőket és kíváncsiakat: the Virág Judit Gallery is rolling out a three-part auction lineup this November in Budapest, headlined by its 5th Zsolnay Ceramics Auction and the 17th Post-War and Contemporary Art Auction, with a timed online sale to scoop up late arrivals.
Nov 17 – Zsolnay Ceramics, Budapest Music Center
The fifth edition celebrates the Hungarian icon Zsolnay’s legacy with historicist pieces and lush Art Nouveau showstoppers: cachepots, cigar vases, and classic vases. A star lot is a colossal 1906 cachepot whose motifs combine the panoramic scenes of the most coveted cigar vases into one oversized statement. Expect competitive bidding for turn-of-the-century glaze magic and that unmistakable eosin sheen.
Nov 19 – Post-War & Contemporary, Budapest Music Center
This sale charts the neo-avant-garde and postmodern currents that surged from the 1960s on, spanning the Pécs Workshop (Pécsi Műhely), New Sensibility, artists of the French émigré scene, and today’s movements. Anchors include standout canvases by Ilona Keserü and the Hungarian-born global star Vera Molnar, alongside key works by Imre Bak, János Fajó, Ferenc Lantos, István Nádler, and Tamás Hencze. A rare chance to trace a lineage from experimental roots to present-day momentum in one room.
Nov 23 – Timed Online Auction
An extra drop lands online at 6 p.m. after catalogs close: additional Zsolnay ceramics and contemporary paintings that couldn’t fit the live sales. View in-gallery alongside live-sale lots. No print catalog; all details on the gallery site. Pre-bids accepted until Nov 23; lots open at 6 p.m. and close minute by minute in catalog order. Any bid in the last 20 seconds extends that lot by 20 seconds. The next lot launches the moment the previous one ends.
