when: Friday, August 1 - Sunday, August 3
where: 5350 Tiszafüred, és további települések a Tisza-tó körül 2025-ben tizenkettedik alkalommal kerül megrendezésre a Természet Operaháza Tisza-tavi Fesztivál. Every year, a truly unique event combines the spectacular beauty of nature with world-class musical experiences: Nature’s Opera House – Lake Tisza Festival (Tisza-tó Fesztivál). Set along the scenic shores of Lake Tisza (Tisza-tó) in Hungary, this festival offers a blend of music, movement, and outdoor adventure that’s perfect for anyone tired of sedentary, stressful routines. The twelfth edition is set for August 1–3, 2025, and festival-goers are invited to “Bike, run and row for culture!” But this is no ordinary music festival. Expect three days filled with bike rides, family programs, concerts, and a restorative atmosphere for both body and soul.

Friday: Curtain Up, Under the Open Sky

The festivities begin on Friday evening in the main square of Tiszafüred, with a dazzling Gala Concert known as Lake-pera (To’Pera). The lineup is outstanding: Erika Miklósa, the internationally renowned coloratura soprano who has won every major Hungarian award, shares the stage with students from the Kvintesszencia Master School (Kvintesszencia Mesteriskola). Bea Csete hosts the show, while Péter Novák, a celebrated actor, singer, lyricist, and composer, directs the spectacle. Entry is absolutely free—just grab a picnic blanket and soak it all in from 7:00 PM under the stars. Organizers reserve the right to adjust the program, but you can expect a night of musical fireworks.

Saturday: All Around the Lake, One Stage at a Time

Saturday is for explorers. The day kicks off at the Lake Tisza Bicycle Center (Tisza-tavi Kerékpáros Központ) in Tiszafüred (registration from 8:00–9:00 AM, ride starts at 9:00 AM; tickets $16), where cyclists embark on a 43-mile journey circling Lake Tisza, stopping for mini-concerts along the way. There’s music on every shore:

– Start from Tiszafüred.
– At the Poroszló Dolphin Pier (Poroszló Delfin kikötő), accordion virtuoso Zoltán Orosz performs.
– In Adventure Village (Sarud Élményfalu), enjoy shows by award-winning actors and singers Mátyás Dósa and Péter Harna.
– At Tiszanána-Dinnyéshát, Imre Vadkerti from the legendary rock band Kormorán (Kormorán) serenades riders.
– In Kisköre at the Fish Ladder (Kisköre Hallépcső), recharge with lunch and a concert by Attila László and Szilvia Agárdi.
– Sun lovers at the Abádszalók beach will hear Linda Király, the famous singer and songwriter.
– In Tiszaderzs, both opera star Zoltán Nyári and the local folk song group present traditional Hungarian tunes.
– At Tiszaszőlős, feel the beat of the Kurul Drummers (Kurul Dobosok), a group preserving ancient Hungarian rhythms.
– As golden hour approaches, Kormorán founding member Gábor Szűcs Antal and violinist/singer Péter Gál perform in Tiszaörvény.
– The tour loops back to the Bicycle Center by evening—legs tired, spirits lifted.

Sunday: Family Picnic, Boats, and Festival Farewells

Sunday becomes family-friendly on the beautiful lawns around the Kisköre Fish Ladder (Kisköre Hallépcső). From 10 AM, a host of open-air activities await: try rafting in demos organized by the Hungarian Canoe-Kayak Association (Magyar Kajak-Kenu Szövetség), wander through a crafts market with regional products, join a kids’ fishing event, hop on a wagon ride, or bounce around on inflatables. Even the family dog has options, thanks to Unidog’s canine sports & training demonstrations.

The day pulses with concerts: actors and singers from the region’s favorite theaters, jazz and blues musicians like Norbert Nikodém and László Halper, and the multi-generational band Alma Ensemble (Alma Együttes) all take the stage. Bea Csete hosts. The entire family day is free and everyone is welcome—from toddlers to grandparents to pets.

Eat, Sleep, Chill: Where to Stay and What to Taste

Festival life is best enjoyed when you stay close to the action—and there is no shortage of unique options. Imagine sleeping above the water in floating, stilt, or treetop cabins at Kormorán Harbor (Kormorán Kikötő) Water Village, or booking one of Dieter’s Camping (Dieter’s Kemping) cozy apartments just 160 feet from the Tisza shores. Double-level suites cover 900 square feet, perfect for families or groups, housing up to six guests with all modern comforts, air conditioning, and lakeside views.

Eco-conscious travelers might prefer the Tisza Balneum Hotel, a four-star wellness and conference center that operates in harmony with nearby nature reserves. Szabics Harbor and Leisure Park (Szabics Kikötő és Szabadidőpark) has new guesthouses for quiet stays right by the river, suitable for families or groups of friends, plus a recently opened campground for tent or RV travelers.

Camping is also popular: Albatrosz Harbor (Albatrosz Kikötő) features its own 21,500-square-foot campground, private beach, water sports rentals, and an on-site restaurant, all a short stroll from Tiszafüred’s spa baths. Enjoy leafy retreats at Boró (Boró Apartmanház) or Walnut Apartment (Diófa Apartman), just steps from the action but wrapped in peace and greenery.

Bites and Brews: The Local Flavors

Dining here is truly part of the experience. Sample modern international dishes alongside hearty Hungarian classics at Platán Restaurant (Platán Étterem), or try regional specialties riverside while sipping Tokaj wines as the sun sets over the lake. Molnár Tavern Guesthouse (Molnár Vendéglő Füzes Panzió) offers homemade food at affordable prices, while NoPara Healing Tavern (NoPara GyógySERtár) serves up craft beer, à la carte breakfasts, and a cozy bed under one roof. The renowned Old Fisherman’s (Öreg Halász) recipes tempt visitors seeking the authentic taste of the Tisza.

Just beyond town, near the western gate of the Hortobágy National Park (Hortobágyi Nemzeti Park), you’ll find rustic inns offering generous Hungarian meals amid peaceful, green surroundings.

There’s only one thing left: mark August 1–3, 2025, on your calendar for a feast of arts, nature, and deliciously slow living at Lake Tisza (Tisza-tó). Organizers may still adjust the program—so stay tuned—but whatever changes, this wild lakeside festival promises unforgettable memories.
