A long winter weekend in Mezőkövesd now comes with a sizzling soundtrack and a table groaning under the classics. From January through April—and again October through December—Hajnal Hotel rolls out its buffet-style “disznótoros” spreads with live music, cozy lodging, and wellness, all wrapped in a friendly countryside vibe at 3400 Mezőkövesd, Hajnal St. 2 (Hajnal u. 2). It’s a throwback to the rollicking winter feasts of Matyóföld, without giving up comfort. Expect juicy hurka, crisp kolbász, rich roasts, and the sweet, spiced smell of mulled wine. Sing, dance, laugh—then soak it all off in the spa.

Friday: Check In, Tune Up
Friday evening greets arrivals with a live-music buffet dinner that sets the tone. It’s generous, communal, and just indulgent enough to make you wonder if you should have packed elastic waistbands. The hotel’s homely, family feel meets a stress-free, “we’ve got you” service ethos—wellness access included.
Saturday: The Main Event
Start early in pure disznótor spirit. Between 7:00 and 9:00 at reception, each guest can claim one shot of pálinka and one cup of mulled wine, followed by a bountiful buffet breakfast from 7:00 to 10:00. At noon, the traditional flavors hit their stride: a buffet lunch with marrowbone broth with fine noodles and vegetables, toros cabbage, roasts with potatoes, and fresh strudel.
Come evening, the disznótor with live music turns up the warmth and the nostalgia. The buffet sprawls with soups; roast meats and ribs; hurka and kolbász; onion mashed potatoes; stuffed cabbage; and desserts including honey cream slice and pudding. It’s a full-bodied tribute to rural culinary roots where the band keeps the mood buoyant and the plates stay full.
Sunday: One Last Plate
Close the weekend with a hearty breakfast buffet stacked with cracklings and bacon—an honest farewell to a weekend dense with flavor and cheer.
