Ilók and Mihók Puppet Fairy Tale
Kick off with the Vaskakas Puppet Theater’s charming “Ilók és Mihók” on March 16 and 17 at 10am in the Kálmán Imre Cultural Center’s theater hall, part of the Little Vakond subscription series. Mihók hunts for a wife skilled in housework and knitting, with a voice like a cowbell, family-oriented, and head-over-heels in love with him—enter the perfect match, Ilók. They adore each other; Mihók’s mom cheers them on to get married, but Ilók’s dad the innkeeper schemes to ruin it. True love wins out as they fight to be together. Based on Gyula Illyés’s tale, scripted and directed by award-winning Rozi Kocsis (Blattner Géza Prize), with dramaturg Orsolya Nagy, set and costume designer Géza Nagy-Kovács, and composer Viki Rab. Cast: Petra Nagy as Ilók, István Vitányi-Juhász as Mihók, Tamás Szukenyik as Ilók’s dad/innkeeper, Viki Rab as Mihók’s mom, minister, market woman, and villagers played by Sára Bánky, Viki Rab, Tamás Szukenyik, and István Vitányi-Juhász. On the morning of March 21 at 9:30am in BRTK Library kids’ section, Zeller J. Kitty leads a relaxing sound bath with singing bowls and meditation instruments. Later at 8:30pm (doors 7:30pm) in Civil House, free Spring Welcoming Dance House with Tarsoly Band—buffet on site. Balaton Dance Ensemble helps beginners learn steps in this joyful tavaszköszöntő (spring greeting) bash.
