For three full days, from October 10 to 12, 2025, the main square of Kecskemét (Kecskemét) will buzz with celebration as the 22nd Autumn Local Product Festival and Aranyhomok Portéka Market (Aranyhomok Portéka Vásár) come alive at the Hírös Forrás Fountain (Hírös Forrás kút). Families, foodies, and fun-seekers of all ages are in for a treat as the city hosts a festival packed with community spirit, delicious local flavors, and a deep respect for tradition.
Hometown Heroes: Food, Wine, and Sweet Surprises
It’s all about staying local: winemakers from Kecskemét (Kecskemét) and the surrounding region will pour their finest, including those awarded the “Wine of Kecskemét” (Kecskemét Város Bora) title. Market stalls will overflow with artisanal honey, handmade crafts, and homemade delicacies. Kids can enjoy folk games, crafts, pumpkin carving, and the magical taste of honey cookies—from Fodor Confectionery (Fodor Cukrászda), no less.
Kick-Off: Friday’s Toast and Tunes
Friday afternoon begins with a ceremony hosted by Deputy Mayor Dr. Gábor Fekete and a performance by tárogató musician Sándor Szabó. Awards such as “Best Kecskemét Farm Market Product Owner” will be presented. The highlight? The sixth Regional Grand Toast, with Mathiász János Wine Order (Mathiász János Borrend) and Kunság Women’s Wine Order (Kunsági Női Borrend) leading the cheers. Expect acoustic rhythms from Csaba Olasz & Ritmo-Acoustics (Olasz Csaba & Ritmo-akusztik) to kick off the festivities.
Saturday: Full-Throttle Festivity
On Saturday, the square transforms into a vibrant hub: a tourism expo, retro folk games, family shows, and live music fill the day. Don’t miss the charity goulash cooking, which supports local children’s speech therapy, along with operetta performances, zither music, folk dancing, and impressive dog demonstrations. Bands TBX and HangOverGang close out the evening with energetic performances.
Sunday: The Buzzing Honey Day
Sunday is dedicated entirely to honey. Meet local beekeepers, shop and sample at the honey market, and join engaging roundtable discussions on honey’s role in gastronomy and healthy living. Beekeeping enthusiasts can pick up special tips, and a smooth jazz afternoon with the Penge Benge Jazz Band brings the festival to a sweet close.
Year-Round Local Love
Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy grape pressing, cooking shows, raffles, and the lively local producers’ market. Whether you’re reconnecting with tradition or just out for some flavorful fun, Kecskemét’s autumn festival has something for every taste.
