Bikal’s Puchner Estate is turning ordinary afternoons into creative escapes with a hands-on home decor workshop using premium materials. Step out of the weekday routine and spend a lively, inspired session crafting a show-stopping door wreath or table centerpiece you’ll actually want to display. It’s all about the magic of the seasons: a guided experience where you make it yourself, at your pace, with expert help on standby.
When and how it runs
The program runs from 10:00 to 13:00, but pace matters. Making one piece takes about an hour, so arrive by 12:00 at the latest or you won’t finish. January dates: 6–8, 13, 14, 16, 19–23, 27–30 in Bikal. February dates: 3–6, 10–13, 17–20, 24–27 in Bikal. Groups are small so everyone gets attention—beginners, hobbyists, even pros. The vibe is friendly and nonjudgmental, and yes, everyone is welcome.
What you can make
Choose between a door-wreath or a table decoration in round, rectangular, or oval shapes. Materials always reflect the current season, but you can also opt for a timeless look that works all year. The staff keeps the bar high with premium textures and botanicals, so your piece feels crafted, not crafty.
Where it happens
The workshop is indoors at the Apródképző on the Puchner Estate, nestled at the foot of the Mecsek in a rolling, storybook landscape. The property spans more than 34.6 acres, shaded by ancient trees, where the adjacent Experience Estate (Élménybirtok) brings the Middle Ages to life beside the castle hotel. Park for free at the Puchner Castle Hotel reception and stroll in.
Who can join
Adults and school-age children can participate. Younger kids are welcome with parental supervision. One creation can be a team effort—think mother-daughter plan, best friends, or a date activity.
Price and booking
Participation is USD 73.50 per decoration. The fee is per finished piece, not per person. Book by phone no later than 9:00 on the day of the event.
Make a day of it
If a medieval detour sounds tempting, the on-site Experience Estate (Élménybirtok) sets the mood with period-style scenes and hearty fare. Near the Southern Gate, by the swan lake, the famed Inn at the White Swan (Fogadó a Fehér Hattyúhoz) serves up comfort dishes in a tavern that looks and smells straight out of a different century. The aromas drift across the water and the decor is delightfully immersive—expect timber beams, rustic tableware, and a menu that leans into tradition.
