Tiszafüred rolls out a packed 2026 calendar across multiple venues around Lake Tisza, mixing culture, sport, food, family workshops, and heritage days. From spring fairs to summer festivals, archaeological adventures, and Advent lights, here’s how to plan a year of easygoing lakeside fun. Spring kick-off: fairs, theater, and lake life

April 30 sets the tone with Pityi Palkó from the Bóbita Puppet Theatre (Bóbita Bábszínház) under the Kerekerdő season pass. May Day brings the Füred May Day Fair (Füredi Majális) on May 1, alongside Be a Archaeologist! (Legyél te is régész!) volunteer community archaeology at Tiszaörvény’s Church Hill (Templom-domb) and Morotvapart. Stand-up paddleboarders hit the water for the Hungarian SUP Cup, Round II (SUP Magyar Kupa II.) on May 3. May 7 brings a Japanese sword exhibition and show, the traveling reptile and insect world of the Terrarium of Wonders (Csodák Terráriuma), and the Harlekin Puppet Theatre’s (Harlekin Bábszínház) The Bass Player’s Son and the Devils (A bőgős fia és az ördögök). A quiz night lands at the Kérész Eco and Active Tourism Center on May 8.

May 9 is Tour de Lake Tisza (Tour de Tisza-tó) day—cycle around Hungary’s second-largest lake—plus the BorsodChem Tour de Lake Tisza on Halas Square (Halas tér), a crafty Míves Műhely workshop, and Alfa Romeo Club Hungary’s Selenia Rally at the Tisza Balneum Hotel. Back to archaeology on May 15 with a museum education program in Tiszaörvény. Kérész Activity follows on May 22, and the musical Made in Hungária pops up at the Fényi Gyula Jesuit High School from May 22–23. On May 23, take Grandma and Grandpa to the museum for a family tour at the László Darabos Ethnographic and Local History Exhibition. Children’s Day on May 31 rounds off the month.

Early summer: engines, heritage, and night at the museum

June 4 marks the Day of National Unity on Halas Square. On June 6, the 2nd Tiszafüred American Car and Tuning Meet revs up, with a companion show on Halas Square. Archaeology Day returns June 13 as a volunteer dig in Tiszaörvény. Families take over the Endre Tariczky Archaeological Exhibition on June 20 for Night of the Museums (Múzeumok Éjszakája). From June 26–28, Summer Evening Concerts (Nyáresti koncertek) bring music to the Main Square, and on June 27 another Bring Grandma and Grandpa tour heads to the Endre Tariczky venue.

Peak season: ultra runs, festivals, and lake vibes

The Ultra Lake Tisza Running Race (Ultra Tisza-tó) takes over July 3–5, followed by Tisza-tó Fest from July 9–11. The Festival of the Hungarian Lakes (Magyar Tavak Fesztiválja) hits the Lake Tisza stage July 31–August 2. A sports taster day drops into the B.G.V. Sports Hall on August 8. DJ Tour Fest electrifies the Morotva Peninsula August 13–16. August 20 features the State Foundation Day program, a family tour at the László Darabos museum, an American Car and Tuning Meet on Halas Square, and another run of Summer Evening Concerts August 20–22. Tiszavég Day (Tiszavégi Nap) closes the month on August 30.

Autumn into winter: tradition, remembrance, and Advent

Archaeology education returns September 11, followed by a Harvest program for kindergarten and primary pupils on September 18 at the Gáspár Nyúzó Pottery Folk House, a Dance House (Táncház) night on September 25 at the Lake Tisza AMI Headquarters (Tisza-tavi AMI), a volunteer dig September 26, and World Tourism Day on September 27. The Day of the Martyrs of Arad on October 6 and the October 23, 1956 commemoration lead into a family tour at the Kiss Pál Museum the same day. A torchlight march runs November 4, with a Day of Remembrance (Kegyeleti nap) volunteer family day at the Old Cemetery on November 7. St. Martin’s Day education arrives November 11 at the Endre Tariczky venue, Dance House returns November 21, and Advent prep workshops land November 27. Advent lights up the Main Square with candle ceremonies on November 29 (First), December 6 (Second), December 13 (Third), and December 20 (Fourth), alongside Tiszafüred Advent from November 29–December 20. Kids meet St. Nicholas (Mikulás) at the Kiss Pál Museum on December 4, another Advent workshop runs December 11 at Endre Tariczky, From St. Lucy’s Day to Epiphany (Luca naptól Vízkeresztig) features the Lake Tisza AMI Youth Dance Ensemble on December 12, an Advent producers’ and craft fair fills December 12–13, and Christmas in the 19th Century wraps the children’s program at the Kiss Pál Museum on December 18.
