July 5 promises a unique musical journey as Kale Lulugyi and Romungro take the stage for a special Gypsy music night, blending authentic traditions with bold new flavors. Kale Lulugyi draws its repertoire from a mix of Gypsy and Hungarian (Magyar) folk songs, but isn’t shy about reinterpreting tunes from other artists as well. Expect a cocktail of influences—from the melodies of Hungary (Magyarország), the Highlands (Felföld), Szeklerland (Székelyföld), and the Roma, all spiced up with elements of world music, jazz, and rock.
Romungro Stays True, Yet Experiments
Romungro has stayed true to authentic Roma musical traditions from the beginning, but also brings a distinctly experimental, open-minded spirit that gives their sound a unique identity. The band performs Lovari and Beás Gypsy folk music, strictly on traditional Roma instruments, ensuring their performances are both true to their roots and strikingly contemporary.
