The KÁN University Days (KÁN Egyetemi Napok) are returning to Kaposvár from September 26 to 28, 2025, hosted by the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE – Magyar Agrár- és Élettudományi Egyetem). With partners such as the Association of Hungarian Animal Breeders and Hungarian Agriculture Ltd. (Magyar Agrár Zrt.), this three-day event takes over the university campus and the Pannon Horse Academy (Pannon Lovasakadémia), welcoming agriculture enthusiasts, professionals, and families for another gigantic rural celebration.
Biggest Agricultural Event in Western Hungary
Last year, almost 40,000 visitors and over 70 exhibitors filled the grounds, with breed showcases, expert conferences, and family-friendly programs dominating the scene. This year, there’s a brand-new “precision agriculture” demonstration area, packed with sensors, software, and smart equipment that shows firsthand how technology is transforming farming. Expect a super-sized machinery exhibition as well, plus ostrich and working dog shows. You’ll still find the ever-popular horse events and the interactive Farmers’ Courtyard, both fan favorites.
Knowledge, Competitions, and Real-World Skills
Several industry-themed conferences will take place, including the much-anticipated Vocational School Day—when around 1,000 agricultural students arrive in Kaposvár to explore educational opportunities and the future of the sector. Plus, the Farmer Contest (Gazdász Verseny) and a soil cultivation challenge return, bringing practical skills and fun competitions for both professionals and visitors.
Showcasing Szeklerland (Székelyföld) and Animal Breeding Excellence
This edition puts the spotlight on the agriculture of Szeklerland (Székelyföld), tying into MATE’s pivotal role as the leading agricultural university in the Carpathian Basin. The event includes the 5th Animal Breeders’ Day—a highlight that strengthens the partnership between MATE and the breeders’ association.
Family, Food, and Friday Night Lights
Families can get hands-on with craft activities, explore the updated “Story Map” for kids, enjoy live falconry demonstrations, and experience cultural programs. There’s the Somogy County Hunting Day (Somogy Megyei Vadásznap) and the bustling Local Flavors Alley, where regional farmers and artisans entice visitors with homegrown products. The Experience Grove returns with heritage exhibitions. On Friday night, Péter Geszti headlines a mega concert, with a limited number of discounted tickets available.
Organizers remind everyone: program and schedule are subject to change.
