From January to the end of April 2026, then again in October–December, the Hajnal Hotel in Mezőkövesd is reviving the classic pig-slaughter feast vibe with a buffet-style pork banquet, live music, countryside warmth, and a side of spa downtime. Think juicy blood and liver sausages (hurka), crackling sausages (kolbász), hearty roasts, and proper Hungarian flavors that whisk you back to cheerful winter weekends—minus the cold and plus the wellness. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with a live-music buffet dinner and rolls on through Saturday’s full pig-slaughter program before wrapping up with a generous Sunday breakfast. The event runs with a minimum of 40 guests.

Friday: roll in, tune up

Saturday: the big pig-slaughter day
Start early in full disznótor spirit. Between 7:00–9:00 at reception, guests can pick up one pálinka and one cup of mulled wine per person. A rich buffet breakfast follows (7:00–10:00). At noon, the classics arrive: buffet lunch with pork backbone soup with fine noodles and vegetables, cabbage with pork (toros káposzta), roasts with potatoes, and fresh strudel. The evening centerpiece is the Disznótor with live music and a sprawling buffet: soups; roasted meats and ribs; blood and liver sausages (hurka) and sausages (kolbász); mashed potatoes with onion; stuffed cabbage; and desserts including honey cream slice and pudding. The music, the dishes, and the crowd do the rest.
Sunday: hearty finish
A generous buffet breakfast closes the weekend, punctuated by pork cracklings and bacon—simple, rustic, satisfying.
Comfort meets tradition
Beyond the food and music, guests can use the Hajnal Hotel wellness facilities, turning a feast into a full reset. It’s ideal if you love traditional Hungarian cuisine, enjoy a lively atmosphere with live tunes, and want a special yet homey weekend in Mezőkövesd.
