Tiszafüred rolls into 2026 with an easygoing but packed calendar of concerts, festivals, folk traditions, and all-ages cultural programs, all set against the wild beauty of Lake Tisza. From light-hearted pop gigs to classical performances, kid-friendly shows to open-air events, the town serves up a full year of music and leisure. Expect variety, nature, and plenty of reasons to linger—this is a place where you can hike, paddle, unwind, and catch a sunset show without leaving the same scenic playground.
Concert Highlights
The year opens with rhythm and flair: on January 7, the Kalungu Percussion Ensemble brings its show to Tiszafüred, setting an upbeat tempo right after the holidays. Summer turns the volume up further with Tisza Lake Fest (Tisza-tó Feszt), a multi-day concert series from July 9 to July 11. Expect lake breezes, evening lights, and a crowd that comes for the music and stays for the water, food, and warm Tiszafüred nights.
Sleep Over the Water—or in the Trees
Craving quiet? Hide out on Lake Tisza at Cormorant Harbor (Kormorán Kikötő), a harbor retreat where you can choose from six distinct lodging types depending on whether you want to sleep on land, on the water, or up in the air. Think floating houses, stilt cottages, waterside huts, and even treetop options. It’s a discreet haven with the lake’s silence and calm built into the experience.
Right on the protected lakeshore, the Tisza Balneum Hotel delivers four-star, eco-conscious comfort surrounded by rich wildlife and romantic landscapes. It’s designed for balance—body, mind, and spirit—with a broad range of services, a wellness hub, and conference facilities that make it ideal for both unplugging and getting things done. The setting is pure Lake Tisza, with mindful operations and a tranquil rhythm.
Stilted Suites and Family-Friendly Stays
Waterfront stilted apartment houses offer two-level suites of 904 square feet, with two double bedrooms and a living room that can take an extra bed. Expect a terrace, phone, broadband connection, hotel TV, bathrobes, minibar, and in-room safe, plus air-conditioning and bathrooms with bathtubs. They comfortably sleep 4–6, perfect for large families or small groups of friends. All are non-smoking.
Albatross Harbor (Albatrosz Kikötő) is one of the town’s major marinas, with its own 21,528-square-foot campground. Guests get a private beach area, water-sports rentals, opportunities to get out on the water, plus an on-site restaurant and shopping. The city center and the thermal and medicinal bath are just minutes away.
Directly opposite the Tiszafüred beach and thermal spa, Dieter’s Camping sits about 164 feet from Lake Tisza. It’s a small, family-run spot with a loyal crowd returning season after season. A refreshed kitchen and stricter cleaning and disinfecting protocols welcome guests who want simple holiday vibes, quick lake access, and an easy base near the baths.
Walnut Apartments (Diófa Apartmanok), not far from the town center yet only minutes from the water, offer a quiet, green setting for families and friends. Another guesthouse, wrapped by a landscaped, fruit-tree garden one kilometer from the shore, hosts up to 15 people across three separate apartments. These family- and child-friendly units are self-catered, comfortable, and fully equipped.
Close to the thermal beach—just 164 feet—full-comfort apartments come with shower, toilet, AC, microwave, fridge, and TV. Indoor and outdoor cooking options sit within a landscaped, enclosed yard, with on-site parking. Within 1,640 feet you’ll find three supermarkets and three restaurants, and a wellness option just 492 feet away. The untamed Lake Tisza is an easy five-minute walk.
At Black Stork Yard (Fekete Gólya Porta), two houses are connected by a covered communal space. The architecture keeps faith with the traditional farmhouses around Lake Tisza—now rare in Tiszafüred—offering rustic charm with modern function.
Gateways to the Puszta
In tiny Kócsújfalu (around 160 residents), life leans into the landscape: rich wildlife, thousands of birds, and stork families sharing the horizon. The Oven House (Kemencés Ház) and the Neighbor House (Szomszéd Ház) blend into this setting, part of the Stork Castle (Gólyavár) estate’s guesthouses halfway between Tiszafüred and Hortobágy at the edge of Hortobágy National Park. Reach Lake Tisza in 15 minutes by car, or head the other direction to the Nine-Arch Bridge, the region’s iconic sight.
Where to Eat and Sip
Plane Tree Restaurant (Platán Étterem) pairs international and regional dishes with fragrant wines from the Tokaj area, plus a lakeside summer terrace and grill deck. The menu follows global trends while giving space to Hungarian and seasonal regional specialties—you’ll want to time your dinner to the incomparable Lake Tisza sunset.
Molnár Tavern & Füzes Guesthouse (Molnár Vendéglő Füzes Panzió) serves the capital of Lake Tisza year-round, with both Hungarian and international favorites on offer. In the city center, another spot dishes out mostly local-style, home-cooked meals and daily menus at friendly prices.
NOPARA Remedy Brewery (NOPARA GyógySERtár) makes beer an experience: brewery, pub, restaurant, and apartments under one roof, with free Wi-Fi and daily à la carte breakfasts for apartment guests. For river classics and regional plates, the Old Fisherman (Öreg Halász) welcomes regulars and newcomers with courteous service and recipes handed down with a fisherman’s pride.
Just outside town in the Lake Tisza orbit—8 km beyond Tiszafüred on Route 33 at the western gate of Hortobágy National Park—another restaurant offers a cozy dining room and covered garden space. Expect hearty Hungarian flavors, regional dishes, generous portions, and friendly service year-round, plus lodging for those who want to rest in a clean, calm, well-kept setting shaped by the plains and the puszta.
