Lajosmizse rolls out a full year of culture and fun through the City Cultural Center and Library: summer evening concerts, open-air cinema, theater, exhibitions, fairs, and foodie happenings to welcome locals and visitors alike. Here’s what’s on and where to stay, ride, craft, and dine when you’re in town.
January Highlights
January 7 brings a poetic, musical tribute to Olympic champion Imre Polyák, performed by Olympian Sándor Németh NYIBA. On January 9, Apostol takes the stage for a major concert in Lajosmizse, with tickets at $24 to $24. January 10 is for teens: the TINI DISCO Party opens its doors to ages 12–17. On January 16, the opening of Etelka Kis-Máté’s creative exhibition takes place. January 24 features Felméri Péter’s solo evening, Kintsugi, hosted by Dániel Said, with tickets at $16 to $18. On January 27, the 1001 Craft Club dives into macramé—then returns with more knots and patterns on February 17.
Spring on Stage
Comedy takes over March 12 with a stand-up show starring Gyuri Orosz, Dávid Záhonyi-Ábel, and Mályki Valtner. On March 16, psychologist Noémi Orvos-Tóth explores How to Break Inherited Family Patterns at the City Cultural House; tickets run $22 to $27. On April 23, psychiatrist Imre Csernus arrives with Burnout or New Challenges, priced at $16. On April 30, Zorán delivers a live concert to close the month on a high note.
Stay in Style
The Geréby Kúria Hotel and Equestrian Court sits in a postcard setting in the heart of the Great Hungarian Plain, about a half-hour drive from Budapest and just 1.9 miles off the M5 Lajosmizse exit. In summer the landscape is irresistible; in winter, a horse-drawn sleigh across the plain is unforgettable. The hotel offers 58 rooms and suites for up to 130 guests, a cozy wellness area for recharging, plus prime spaces for conferences and weddings.
Live History, Touch Tradition
The heritage yurt camp invites visitors into the life and tools of Turanian peoples with a year-round, hands-on setup. Six yurts, each tailored to a different tribe’s traditions, present clothing, utensils, and ways of life. You can try traditional tools, lifestyles, and gastronomy through interactive programs—short immersions or multi-day experiences.
Between City and Quiet
Another hotel sits between Lajosmizse and Kecskemét along Route 5, just 0.5 miles from the M5, offering calm removed from city noise yet easy access. Guests get a generous buffet breakfast, with lunch and dinner available in a private room. The elegant, configurable conference hall adapts to your needs, and wellness services round out the package.
Saddle Up at Mizsei Lovastanya
On Lajosmizse’s outskirts, Mizsei Lovastanya is a family-style riding ranch built for unplugged rest. Across roughly 124 acres, animals roam freely—horses, dogs, cats, pot-bellied pigs, miniature ponies, donkeys, and Pizsi the lamb. A 13,455-square-foot indoor arena anchors the site, with changing rooms and a club space. Summer camps run for kids and adults.
Roadside Rest and Rustic Charm
Mizse Motel sits at the M5 Lajosmizse rest area, about a 30-minute drive from Budapest and 11 miles from Kecskemét—ideal for transit travelers, families, and business guests. Closer still to town, Vadvirágos Guesthouse is just a one-minute drive from the M5 and Lajosmizse. Newly built but traditionally furnished, its façade bears ancient Hungarian motifs crafted in lime mortar: tulips, vines, trees of life, mallow, and the winged sun disc said to open a link to the heavens and watch over the home. Inside, pine farmhouse furniture fills fully equipped rooms and kitchens; outside, a gazebo, oven, yurt, and playground keep everyone busy. The 3.7-acre fenced, landscaped grounds are adding a medicinal herb garden. Stay for hours or weeks.
Eat, Sip, Savor
Find unique, handmade chocolates and almond brittle delights in town. Ezüstfenyő Restaurant and Pizzeria, downtown on the old Route 5, serves Hungarian and international dishes with that famed Kunság hospitality. Korona Restaurant welcomes guests in refined surroundings with high-level service, and will handle events or food delivery outside opening hours by arrangement.
Warm welcome to Lajosmizse—come taste the real flavor of the countryside! Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs.
