Mór, homeland of Móri Ezerjó wine, kicks off 2026 with festivals, wine days, and events from March 24-26 across multiple venues, including Lamberg Castle, in this 8060 gem.

March Kickoff

March 25 brings a Book Club on hotels, inns, and guesthouses. March 24-26 features Easter museum pedagogy sessions at Lamberg Castle. On March 27, Castle Academy hosts Dr. Vizi László Tamás’s talk “Mi veszett el Mohácsnál? – A mohácsi csata félezer év távlatából” (What Was Lost at Mohács? – The Battle of Mohács from a Half-Millennium Perspective). March 28 offers fairy tale mornings for kindergarteners. The Easter egg tree decorating event on March 31 at the city market square invites all: 10:00 for kindergarteners, 14:00 for schoolchildren. Mór families and civic groups can place holiday decorations anytime before Easter. Note: craft weatherproof pieces for spring outdoor exposure!

April Excitement

April 5 rocks with an Easter sprinkling ball by Hangulat Band. April 10 celebrates Hungarian Poetry Day with Tóbisz Tinelli Tamás’s verses-and-music evening. Pros
+
Super family-friendly vibes with Easter egg decorating, fairy tale mornings for kids, and a whole Children's Day – way better than typical tourist traps for traveling families.
+
Lamberg Castle hosts cool events like Mozart concerts and history talks, giving that authentic European castle experience without the massive crowds of places like Neuschwanstein.
+
The Spring Vineyard Tour and wine fests let you taste underrated Móri Ezerjó wines with hikes and local food, like a chill Napa Valley but cheaper and less commercial.
+
Easy day trip from Budapest – hop on a train (about 1 hour) or drive, super straightforward public transport or rental car access for U.S. visitors.
+
Mix of free and cheap events (like $20 castle shows) throughout spring and summer, spreading out your Hungary trip without breaking the bank.
+
Intimate small-town festivals like Mórikum Kultúr-Fröccs-Fesztivál feel more genuine than huge international blowouts like Oktoberfest, with wine, music, and local hangs.
+
No Hungarian needed for wine tastings, egg hunts, cooking contests, or band gigs – visual and tasty fun works for English-only tourists.
Cons
Mór's a total hidden gem town, barely known to foreign visitors compared to Budapest or even nearby Balaton Lake spots.
Lots of lectures and poetry nights (like the Mohács battle talk or Hungarian Poetry Day) are in Hungarian only, so you'll feel left out without basic language skills.
Not as globally famous as wine events in France/Italy or Easter markets in Germany – the local history and Ezerjó wine scene fly under the international radar.
