The Archdiocese of Veszprém is rolling out a massive 2026 lineup packed with exhibitions, concerts, family and children’s programs, guided tours, thematic hikes, educational talks, special holiday events, and church gatherings. Happening across multiple locations in 8200 Veszprém, these events kick off on April 3 and continue throughout the month. Whether you’re into history walks, sacred music, or kid-friendly adventures, there’s something for everyone. Organizers reserve the right to change times and programs.
Guided Castle Walks Through Veszprém’s Highlights
Starting from Biró-Giczey House at Vár utca 31, these tours visit the Castle District’s must-see sites: St. Michael’s Cathedral (Veszprém Cathedral), Gisella Chapel (Gizella Chapel), St. George’s Chapel, and the Archbishop’s Palace. On Friday, April 3 (10am-6pm), there are walks at 10:30am (Archbishop’s Palace and Gisella Chapel) and 4pm (St. Michael’s Cathedral, crypt, and St. George’s Chapel). Saturday, April 4, adds a 2pm tour of the Palace and Gisella Chapel, along with the 10:30am and 4pm tours. Sunday, April 5, follows the same schedule as April 4.
Easter Sunday Mass and Palace Concert
On Easter Sunday, April 5, from 10:30am-12pm, attend Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral with the St. Michael’s Choir and Mendelssohn’s musical service. Then, on April 10, enjoy a Palace Concert at the Archbishop’s Palace. April 11 features a memorial for Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna in Litér.
Kids’ Biblical Role-Playing and More Tours
Kids aged 7-10 will love the Biblical Role-Play series, which builds social skills and emotional intelligence. Hosted on Sundays at the Archbishop’s Office Gisella Hall (Jutasi út 18/2): February 15, March 1, 15, 29, April 12, and 26. On April 14, for World Librarians’ Day, there’s a guided tour of the Koller Library. At 7:30pm on April 15, Martin Baker and Kéméndi Tamás team up for an organ concert in the basilica as part of the Philharmonic subscription series.
Mindszenty Walk, Heritage Tour, and Choir Celebration
On April 17 at 3:20pm, join the “With Mindszenty – Homecoming” guided walk from the Courthouse to the Castle Prison Visitor Center, led by Fr. Balázs Csernai. It’s free, but registration is required for the first 20 spots. On April 18, enjoy a personal specialist tour for World Monument Protection Day with Veronika Nagy and Gábor G.-Kovács. Finally, on April 19 at the 10:30am Mass, the St. Michael’s Children’s Choir performs, followed by a short anniversary concert marking their third year.
