Pros
+
Super family-friendly with toddler playgroups like Babusgató and a kids' ethnic dance festival that'll keep the little ones entertained
+
Fitness classes like Zumba and Folkfitness are universal fun, perfect for staying active on vacation without needing any skills
+
Lake Balaton's north shore is a scenic resort vibe, great for mixing events with beach time or boating as a U.S. tourist
+
Many events are free, like the documentary screening and chats, making it a cheap add-on to your Hungary trip
+
No Hungarian required for most activities – just dance, stretch, and play, though some talks might lose you
+
Easy to reach by car from Budapest in about 2 hours via highways, or public buses/trains to nearby Balaton stops
+
Spring timing means mild weather for outdoor fun, unlike stuffy U.S. summer crowds
Cons
Zánka itself is pretty unknown to foreign visitors, more a local Hungarian gem than a tourist hotspot like Venice Beach
Some events like the Péter Magyar film and residents' forum are in Hungarian only, so you'll miss the nuances without language skills
Smaller scale compared to big U.S. fitness fests or dance events like Coachella – think community center vibes over massive spectacles
Public transport from Budapest involves a train or bus swap, not as seamless as hopping a subway in NYC
