Budapest GypsyFest (Budapesti Cigányfesztivál) is back for its third edition from Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28, 2026, at a new venue on Margaret Island (Margitsziget). For three days, the festival dives into the full spectrum of Roma culture, from raw, authentic primás music to globe-trotting world beats, Latin-flavored concerts, and no-holds-barred party nights. Expect music, dance, and plenty of late finishes.
Lineup Highlights
On stage: Serbian powerhouse Bojan Krstić Orchestra (Boján Krstic Orkestar); the genre-bending Tarkány Works (Tárkány Művek); Kossuth Prize laureate Kálmán Balogh (Balogh Kálmán) with the Gypsy Cimbalom Band; and Romengo featuring the inimitable Mónika Lakatos (Lakatos Mónika). It’s a rare chance to catch these acts side by side, weaving traditional sound into sharp, modern energy.
Beyond the Music
A fashion show threads style into the program, while each night winds down with open jam sessions and dance-fueled parties. Bring your ears, bring your feet—this is where the island turns into a living, breathing map of Roma music. (Cover: Festy in Style – Tarkány Works – Budapest GypsyFest)
