Every Thursday, the Palace of Wonders (Csodák Palotája) opens its doors, inviting families to dive into a world with over 250 interactive exhibits. Whether you’re exploring themed zones or challenging yourself with mind-bending puzzles, visitors of all ages will find antics and discoveries that spark conversations long after your visit.
Looking for a real family adventure you’ll talk about for weeks? This is the place. From toddlers as young as three to the “too cool for school” teens, there’s a game here for everyone. You might even surprise yourself with hidden talents you never knew you had. Race, test, compete, and marvel as your children, friends, or partner completely amaze you.
Hands-On Science Fun for Everyone
At Csopá (the Palace’s nickname), literally anything can happen:
Hop onto a bizarre-wheeled car and feel the bumps, tiptoe across a magnetic field, and tackle the infamous mirror maze. See your face mashed up Picasso-style, shake hands with yourself (yes, really—one hand!), or slip into a Moon Buggy for a lunar ride. Ever wanted to land on Mars? Here’s your chance. Snap a selfie with history’s greatest scientists or spot a hundred versions of yourself inside the giant kaleidoscope.
Become an astronaut for a photo, stand in the infinity mirror room, or listen to sounds you haven’t heard since you were in the womb. Challenge your brain with tricky puzzles, test your nerve on the fakir bed, or toss plush sperm (perfect for parents with teens visiting the birth exhibit). Walk among the clouds on the flying mirror, spin up a vortex, slam dunk in air basketball, and get lost in wild illusions. There are so many more marvels waiting—just let your inner child roam free.
Stay for three or four hours, or make it a full-day adventure—the Palace always has another wonder right around the corner.
Thursdays Are Show Days
Besides the interactive fun, Thursdays are packed with must-see science shows in Öveges Hall. Try to time your visit for these unforgettable demonstrations:
11:00 AM – Bubble Show: Dive into the science and secrets of bubbles—how they’re formed, why they’re round, and the story behind the biggest bubble ever. You’ll even get the inside scoop on the secret bubble formula.
1:00 PM – Dazzling Science: Wild experiments push physics to the extreme, guided by expert presenters with their favorite visual stunts.
3:00 PM – Richter Gedeon Science Show: Physics and chemistry take center stage in dramatic, eye-popping experiments.
5:00 PM – Blazing Stage: “Hot moments” for all ages, from fiery experiments to fun, safe (but never try this at home!) ways to explore the cool side of heat.
