Discover how animal-assisted therapy accelerates recovery and improves well-being. Attend Budapest's 2025 conference to explore innovative programs, earn credits, and connect with experts in mental health.
when: TOMORROW
where: 1097 Budapest - 9. kerület - Ferencváros, Könyves Kálmán körút 12-14.

Animal-assisted therapy brings animals and humans together for healing, drawing on the power of their presence to boost physical, emotional, and social well-being. Whether it’s aiding recovery, supporting learning, providing psychological help, or assisting in rehabilitation, being around animals can offer comfort, motivation, and a calming sense of security. Communication often becomes easier, too. These therapies always involve trained animals and professionals who adhere to strict hygiene and safety standards.

On October 4, 2025, a major conference in Budapest (Budapest) will highlight the many ways animals support mental health treatments. Anyone interested can sign up, either in person or online, by paying a registration fee. Can’t make it? No problem: all lectures will be available online from October 6 to 12 for those who choose that option.

What’s Covered at the Conference?

The program opens with an introduction to animal-assisted interventions, explaining different approaches, target groups, opportunities with various species, and current healthcare regulations. You’ll also get to explore the psychophysiological background—how the presence of animals actually works its magic on the mind and body.

Lectures dive into topics like using dog therapy for adults facing psychiatric or addiction challenges, and the role a dog can play in hospital pediatric wards. The healthcare applications of horse therapy and existing Hungarian (Hungarian) models are on the agenda, too. Plus, there’s an inside look at how rabbits, turtles, and hedgehogs work with the psychiatric department at Mór Kaposi Teaching Hospital (Kaposi Mór Oktató Kórház), offering fresh ideas for integrating companion animals into therapy.

Who Can Benefit?

Doctors, dentists, and clinical psychologists can earn 12 credit points (after a quick test), covering specialties from addiction and child psychiatry to occupational medicine and psychotherapy. Healthcare workers from all fields earn 8 credits. Registration fees are $62 for in-person participation, $76 for online. Organizers reserve the right to adjust the schedule and topics—because nothing in healthcare stays the same for long! The event is held at 12-14 Könyves Kálmán Boulevard (Könyves Kálmán körút 12-14), 1097 Budapest (Budapest), with flexible remote access.
