Animal-assisted therapy brings real, tangible benefits to physical, mental, and social well-being. Simply being around animals, feeling their presence, and interacting with them can actively spark healing, aid rehabilitation, enhance learning, and offer emotional support. Animals instill a sense of safety, peace, and renewed motivation, making communication and therapy smoother. Close collaboration with trained animals and qualified professionals is key, with strict hygiene and safety rules followed at every step.

Learn, Watch, Practice

A major conference delves into how animal therapy aids recovery from psychiatric disorders, hosted on October 4, 2025, at 12-14 Könyves Kálmán Boulevard (Könyves Kálmán körút), Budapest. Can’t make it in person? Recordings will be available online from October 6-12, so those who register for remote participation won’t miss out. Registration is open; anyone interested is welcome to join for a participation fee of about $60 (in-person) or $74 (online).

Therapies for All Ages and Problems

The sessions introduce animal-assisted interventions, discussing their types, use in healthcare, the possible animals involved, and who can benefit. Presentations cover the psychophysiological background—how spending time with animals actually helps us mentally and physically. There is a focus on dog-assisted therapy for adults with psychiatric or addiction issues, and examples of canine therapy in children’s wards. Equine-assisted therapy models (therapy with horses) are also examined, along with fascinating case studies of rabbits, turtles, and hedgehogs in innovative therapy programs for children.

Boost Your Professional Credentials

Doctors, dentists, and clinical psychologists can earn 12 credit points with a written test, and other health professionals receive 8 points for participation. The program is fully accredited for a broad range of specialties—addiction, pediatric care, workplace hygiene, school health, forensic psychology, psychiatry, and more—plus open theoretical modules for those with other qualifications.

Note: The organizers reserve the right to change times and programs.
