Pros
+
Super family-friendly vibe: midday timing, kid-pleasing options like breaded chicken and desserts, and chill seating in a central spot
+
Internationally approachable menu with clear vegetarian picks and familiar dishes, plus a fun Hungarian twist (korhelyleves, krémes)
+
Location is A+ for tourists—right on Dohány Street in central Budapest, easy to pair with the Great Synagogue or ruin bars nearby
+
No Hungarian required: staff in central restaurants usually speak English, and the format is simple (choose courses, drinks included)
+
Easy to reach by public transport (metro M2/M3 nearby, trams/buses all around) and car-friendly with on-site parking validation
+
Great value for U.S. travelers: two courses with wine/beer, soft drink, and coffee for under $25 even after the 12% service charge
+
Compared to similar prix-fixe lunches in Europe, it’s cheaper than Paris/Rome and more upscale than a typical U.S. brunch deal - The concept isn’t globally famous—ARAZ is more a solid local pick than a bucket-list culinary name
Cons
Menu changes weekly, so you can’t bank on specific dishes you might have seen online
Saturday-only, short service window (12:00–14:30) can clash with sightseeing plans
If you’re chasing iconic Hungarian staples (goulash, chimney cake), this skews modern bistro rather than classic tourist must-tries
