From August 7 to 19, 2025, the annual Movie Island (Mozisziget) open-air cinema is taking over the Margaret Island Athletic Center (Margitszigeti Atlétikai Centrum) in Budapest. During these 13 nights, films from 13 countries will be shown, hosted by their respective cultural institutes and embassies. Every evening at 8:00 PM, you can catch a different international movie, all thanks to the coordination of EUNIC Hungary, the organization uniting the EU’s national cultural institutes in Hungary.
Global Movie Selection
The lineup features gems from Italy, Spain, Finland, Portugal, Germany, Israel, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland, Romania, South Korea, and Japan. Expect films like Grumpy Love (Zsémbes szerelem), The Coach’s Daughter (Az edző lánya), and Before the Coffee Gets Cold (Mielőtt a kávé kihűl).
What to Bring
Registration isn’t needed. Entry is free, but organizers recommend grabbing a blanket and packing your own snacks and drinks for that perfect picnic-and-a-movie vibe.
