where: 1072 Budapest, Dob utca 1.

Budapest’s Vörös Neon, 1072 Budapest, Dob Street (Dob utca) 1, is rolling out a packed 2026 calendar where cabaret, comedy, theater, variety, drag, live music, and late-night parties merge into one buzzing downtown orbit. No need to choose between a mind-tickling show and a dawn dance floor — this house does both.

February Highlights

Feb 5: “Hogyan legyünk NER-feleség?” (How to Be an NER Wife?) kicks off the comedy slate. Feb 6 doubles down with Hot Paprika Comedy’s “Spicy Punchlines at Vörös Neon!” and the Friday Night Party VN×DQH. Feb 7 brings “Téli álom – Minden este szilveszter! / Winter Dream Cabaret” plus the Saturday Night Party VN×DQH. Feb 8 screens Super Bowl 2026 – The Final Night. Feb 9: “Isteni végjáték – Egy este a Mindenhatóval / An Act of God” returns with divine comedy. Feb 11 presents “Make Hungary (Magyarország) Great Again – Magyarságkurzus,” a musical cabaret.

Folk, Drag, Debate

Feb 13 pairs the Friday party with “Friday the 13th Drag Bingo with Bonnie Andrews” (“Péntek 13 Drag Bingo Bonnie Andrewsszal”). Feb 14 sharpens the knives with “Rémálom a Dob utcában 2. A szerelem végnapjai – VALENTINE SPECIAL.” Feb 18 hosts “Csak a csoda? Narancs-est,” a talk on the economy with László Csaba, Ágota Scharle (Scharle Ágota), and Emese F. Szabó (F. Szabó Emese). Feb 19 reprises the MAGA-flavored musical cabaret. Feb 20 uncorks “Wine and History” (“Bor és történelem”) with historian Krisztián Ungváry on the 1987–1989 transition, plus the Friday party. Feb 21 repeats both the party and Winter Dream. Feb 22: An Act of God. Pros
+
Family-friendliness depends on the show—cabaret and comedy skew adult, but folk dance nights and live music can work for teens with parents
+
The subject mix (cabaret, drag, comedy, theater, live music, late-night parties) is internationally familiar, so you’ll “get” the vibe even if you’re new to Budapest
+
Budapest is a well-known, easy European city-break for Americans, and Dob utca is in the central 7th District near other nightlife
+
Many events have English-friendly hooks (Super Bowl screening, drag bingo, concerts), and staff/performers in this scene often speak some English, so minimal Hungarian is needed
+
Super accessible by public transport (metro/bus/tram in the core) and cheap rideshares; driving/parking possible but not recommended downtown
+
Compared with similar nightlife-cabaret venues in Berlin or NYC, prices are usually lower and the calendar is packed, so value-for-money is strong
+
Thematic shows (political satire, MAGA parody, folk nights, wine-and-history talks) add a distinctly local flavor you won’t find in generic tourist cabarets
Cons
Not ideal for small kids; some content is risqué, late-night, or politically sharp, which may be a mismatch for family trips
Several titles and jokes rely on Hungarian politics/language, so some humor may fly over your head without context
Venue name and event branding aren’t globally famous yet, so you might need to plan ahead rather than rely on word of mouth
Downtown congestion and weekend crowds can make late-night exits busy, and parking a rental car nearby is a hassle
